Installing a new damp-proof course – chemical injection
By Kome Guide | March 2, 2010
Rising damp is a big problem for our houses as it can gradually result in decay and ruin its beauty. In order to solve this problem, you can install a new damp proof course. For this task, a horizontal damp proof course should be installed 6 inches above the ground level. Maintaining this height is important otherwise it might again be affected by water. A vertical damp proof course is installed between walls to protect it from walls around it.
Chemical injection is a chemical damp proof course, comprising a silicone based liquid. This is injected into the walls to form a layer to resist water. Other forms of it are also available like the cream chemical damp proof course. This is considered more effective than the previous one and protects almost the entire wall. For injecting, you will need drill, application gun, DPC fluid and vacuum cleaner. You may hire professionals for an effective job.
